A perfect 5-day Himalayan crossover — scenic, adventurous, and beginner-friendly.

If there’s one trek that gives you everything the Himalayas have to offer — it’s this one. Starting from the lush green valleys of Manali, this journey takes you through forests, river crossings, alpine meadows, and glacier valleys before pushing you to cross the iconic Hampta Pass at 14,100 ft. What makes this trek unreal is the contrast — one side is all green and vibrant, and the moment you cross the pass, the landscape completely flips into the barren, dramatic terrain of Spiti Valley. And just when you think the experience is complete, you visit the surreal Chandratal Lake — a turquoise lake surrounded by stark mountains. This Zo Trip is not just a trek — it’s a full-blown Himalayan transition packed into 5 days. Perfect for first-timers who want a real adventure without going extreme.

The plan

  • Arrive at Manali Bus stop and transfer to Prini, Manali, where you’ll meet your trek leaders and fellow trekkers for a short briefing session before the adventure begins.
  • Post briefing, begin a scenic drive toward Jobri Nallah, the starting point of the trek. The route winds through dramatic mountain roads with beautiful views of the Manali Valley and surrounding Himalayan ranges.
  • Upon reaching Jobri, start your gradual trek toward Chikka campsite through lush green landscapes and riverside trails.
  • The easy-paced trek serves as a perfect introduction to the terrain while offering stunning views of waterfalls, grazing meadows, and snow-capped peaks.
  • Reach Chikka campsite by evening, settle into your tents, and enjoy a warm dinner amidst the mountains before calling it a night under a starry sky.

Chikka at a Glance:

Altitude - 3,000m

Nestled beside a glacial stream and surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks, Chikka is a serene alpine campsite that marks the beginning of the Hampta Pass adventure. The sound of flowing water, open meadows, and crisp mountain air make it an unforgettable first halt.

We recently completed a 7-day road trip to Spiti Valley with Trip Captain Devesh, and it was an exceptionally well-organized and memorable experience for our group of friends. The itinerary was thoughtfully curated, covering some of the most scenic and culturally rich destinations in the region. Our journey through Sangla and Kalpa offered breathtaking mountain views and peaceful surroundings. Witnessing the frozen beauty of Nako Lake was a unique highlight of the trip. Exploring Kaza gave us a true feel of Spiti’s charm. The monastery visits were especially enriching, including the historic Tabo Monastery and the serene Key Monastery. Each location offered a beautiful blend of spirituality, history, and stunning landscapes. Crossing the iconic Chicham Bridge was another unforgettable experience. The 4x4 Jimny driven by Sahil at the challenging terrain and high-altitude roads effortlessly, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the journey. Captain Devesh’s professionalism, knowledge of the region made the trip smooth and enjoyable. His calm and responsible approach gave us complete confidence during the entire adventure. Overall, it was a perfectly managed and enriching road trip experience. Highly recommended for anyone planning to explore Spiti Valley with friends.
